My sincere condolences to John’s family, friends and extended family. I met John in 1994 when we both attended the Atlantic Police Academy in PEI. He was eager to pass on his life experiences to us younger less grounded individuals. He was chosen as our squad leader without hesitation because he was respected , reserved and looked up to. I remember running alongside John for a while during one of our mandatory outside runs, it was cold and misting and I was complaining about it. John said to me that “sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do, he said do you think I want to be doing this ? That ended my complaining and increased my respect for him. After graduation we lost contact until I met up with him years later as we were both Deputy Sheriffs . He was the same reserved and respected gentleman I knew some fifteen years ago. I am sure he has made lasting memories with many people he has crossed paths with and I hope his family and friends are able to remember and cherish those memories to get you past this difficult time. Rest easy.

To John's family and friends. The passing of a loved one is very difficult but it is even worse when the passing is so sudden. John and I were hired in Bridgewater together back in 2003. He was a dedicated officer and I always enjoyed working with him. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep family close and remember the good times
Heartfelt condolences

John was another family member that I had recently met due to his involvement with my brother Bob Rafuse. However I felt as if I had known him all my life. I will always remember the kindness he showed to him and all the help he was to him in the last few years of his life. To me he was a kind and generous man and the world is a little less with him gone from it. R.I.P. John Till we meet again. Sally

We were shocked and very saddened to hear of our friend John's passing.Although we had not seen him very often in recent years, given his move to Bridgewater and his new life with Sharen, we thought of him kindly and remembered the happy times spent in his company. John was one of the good guys - a kind, dependable, fun-loving man with an ever-present smirk and grin. He had been missed by his "Cornwall friends" in recent times and it is hard to think that we will not be together again, at least in life as we currently know it.
Our sincere sympathies and condolences to Sharen and all of John's family and friends. Many toasts and a few good fishing casts will be made in his memory.
Sincerely,
Wade and Shelley Barry
