Dear Alean’s family,
Please accept my deepest sympathies. I lived next door to Alean and Lincoln for three years. I remember them as always being kind and caring, and often found fresh tomatoes on my doorstep. Alean always stopped to chat when our paths crossed after I left Greenfield. I always remember her sharing stories of her teaching years and being so proud of her children.

To the family:
I first got to know Alean as our church organist at the old Greenfield church, but later as my boys first school teacher. She was one of the best teachers I have ever known...she loved her students, and they loved and respected her. She was multi-talented and used her abilities to help her family and community. She lived her life well and will be missed. I feel blessed to have known her. God bless!
Please accept my condolences.
Cora

Sorry to hear of your mom's passing. My first two years of teaching was with Alean in Greenfield and it was a great place for me to start my career. I remember the music festivals, concerts and many other activities. She was an inspiration to so many and always so willing to share her talents with others. A life well lived. It was with sadness that I heard about your mom's passing. Our thoughts are with you all. I sent your mom a card, but I don't think it made it to her in the hospital. I think of Alean and Lincoln often. Both meant a lot to us growing up in Greenfield.

Uncle Lincoln always had an excellent TV, way better than ours. I spent a lot of time at their house as a child, playing games and watching everything from Bugs Bunny to the Apollo space missions. They were always good to me, and Aunt Alean never meddled with Darrell's specialty: "gourmet" Kraft pizza topped with everything from wieners to bay leaves. The kind of childhood memories you never forget.
Aunt Alean left an indelible mark on hundreds of local kids, doing everything she could to help them succeed. Dad told me she gave her whole life to the Greenfield School and he was right.
Cheryl and Darrell - Annette Kate and I are so very sorry to hear about your Mom. This is perhaps the worst time to deal with the illness and death of someone who meant to much to you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout these most difficult times.

Alean, a most amazing lady. Dedicated to her family, career and myself as a young child growing up in her classroom.
Again as an adult, we came together again and I truely enjoyed every second we spent together.
I will cherish our talks and her wisdom.
Rest in peace, I will always remember you fondly.

My fondest memories of Mrs. Freeman were when Lincoln would "act the fool" and she would feign disapproval. I remain convinced that she was secretly amused by his antics and just refused to show it. I was a teenager when I knew her and so the two of them were an early example of a great love story for me. My condolences to her family. I hope you take some comfort knowing how many lives she touched in her very special way. Her gifts were many and shared generously.

Cheryl and Darrell, sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. She was very proud of you both, and her grandsons and great grandsons. Whenever I visited, we talked about what you were doing and looked at recent photos. We can only celebrate her good long life, her immeasurable impact on so many young lives, and her contributions to her beloved Greenfield. She will be missed.

Darrell and Cheryl- many thanks to your Mom for her years of dedication to the students of Greenfield. Students have done well and I expect will continue to excel, with the example that she set. Not just the school but the community as a whole.
Cheers and farewell.

I remember a mother who was a teacher – a teacher of so many things, not least of which were duty, devotion and love.
Mom looked after our father, Lincoln, for a decade as his health declined due to dementia. It took a great deal out of her to do so. She kept him at home, kept his dignity intact and never wavered. He passed away at home, with her only feet away.
Although Cheryl and I were with our mother when she left, we could not give her the same – being able to die in the house she and dad built and in which they lived their whole lives. That will always be a regret for me.
If I can live with 1/10th of the goodness she showed to us and others I will look back on my life and consider it a success.
