During my first year of teaching in 1975 I would often bump into Frances after school at the post office as she would drop off the school's mail and I would be checking my mailbox. On one occasion after school I went to check my mailbox [the staff had mailboxes in Frances' office for the purpose of receiving notices regarding future meetings, memos, etcetera] and Francis asked if I would take the school's mail to the post office as she had an appointment somewhere and was in a rush.We had a short chat about our families and from that day onward I was invited into her private life and I shared aspects of my private life with her.Francis comforted me on many occasions without judging me.Thank you,Frances.Bless you and bless your family. Truly,Rob McMenemy

We always called her "Mrs Dalziel" - and knew her from her years as secretary at Hebbville Academy, and her participation with Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She was a treasure - so kind, so helpful, always dedicated ,and had a great sense of humour. We will miss her smiling face. Deepest condolences to her family. Ruth & John Bird

On behalf of the dancers in the Square and Round Dance Federation of Nova Scotia, we send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Frances. Your photo of Janet, Leslie, Huge and Frances brings back wonderful memories of the 1982 Halifax National Square and Round Dance Convention. Sadly, it is also a reminder of the tragic events at that time. Frances and Leslie showed great determination and love of square dancing as they recovered and continued to dance and serve as South Shore Representatives to the Federation for many years. We are very thankful for our forty years of friendship and will treasure all the good memories.
With deepest sympathy, Dottie and Gary Welch, Secretary SRDFNS

As the youngest of 4 I couldn’t wait to go to the magical place called Hebbville High School. I heard stories about Mr. Nichols, Mr. Whitehouse, various teachers and a woman named Mrs. Dalziel. She lived up to her reputation. Mrs. Dalziel became Frances when I started teaching at Hebbville Junior High. She was my mentor in so many ways; how to be organized , patient , adaptable, and most importantly how to treat people with respect and kindness. She took such pride in her work and most importantly in her family. I can’t imagine my career without the influence of Frances. I have you in my thoughts and prayers .

When one thinks back to their youth there are some people that although they didn’t have a leading role in your development, they did teach you without you knowing, the greatest lessons on public relations. Mrs.Dalziel was clearly one of the most wonderful examples of “The Golden Rule”. Deep and sincere condolences to her family.

To The Family of Fran:
We had the great pleasure of meeting up with your Mom and Leslie through Square Dancing at The House of Roth in Clementsport.
Whenever we attended any conventions or special dances your Mom made sure she had her famous Cheese Ball and Crackers for Wayne as he truly loved her Cheese Ball.
It was certainly a blessing and privelege to have known your Mom.
Cherish all the wonderful memories you made with her during her life's journey and it will help ease your pain.
Keeping you all in our prayers and thoughts.

Judy and Debbie, I am saddened to hear of the passing of your sweet mom. Please accept our deepest heart felt condolences to you and your families. It is never easy when a loved one passes. Aunt Frances was a kind, soft spoken, caring person. I have very fond memories of visiting aunt Frances and uncle Hugh (or Uncle Huey as we called him), with mom and dad when I was a child. It’s funny how certain things stick in a persons mind when you are young but I remember visiting with mom and dad and staying for supper, and Aunt Frances was making acorn squash slices with butter and brown sugar in the oven. I remember being fascinated by this colourful new dish. I don’t remember what else was for dinner but I remember that delicious squash. And I still love it. Rest In Peace beautiful lady.

Frances was school secretary at Hebbville during my eight year tenure at that junior high school. I remember when she took on a computer in place of her typewriter (with some skepticism) early in my time there. She made good use of it, learning all she needed to know to optimize it for use in the office and the school - and she did it with good humour.
I really appreciated her support, and her willingness to take on new responsibilities when they were presented.
Frances was also a constant in the school who made certain that the school maintained consistency even though the administration changed many times during her time at the school.
My condolences to her family and may they share many happy memories of Frances.

I was very sorry to learn of the passing of your mother and grandmother. Frances was such a kind soul. She was very patient and helpful to me late in the 1970s,when I was “learning the ropes “ at Hebbville Consolidated. Later, her expertise with numbers was indispensable when I organized student trips. The world is a better place because of Frances Dalziel. She will be missed.

Condolences to the Dalziel family.
We have lost a long time aquantence through Frznces' death. For over the fifty+ years that we have known her she has demonstrated generosity of her time to the benefits of others. At Xmas our family, and many others, enjoyed her sugar cookies. They were the BEST, our children often said. Where ever volunteering was required, Frances was always on board. The Church Pudding Factory; ACW: Square Dancing Festival;, Square Dancing Clubs. She showed very much determination, especially after she suffered considerable body damage from an auto accident, she and Leslie came back to the the Square Dance floor for many more years. RIP Frznces
