Obituary of Minerva Frances Dalziel
It is with heartfelt sadness and a feeling of enormous loss the family of Minerva Frances Dalziel announces her passing April 25, 2021 at South Shore Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Frances was born August 30, 1931 in Truro to Henry (Harry) and Myrtle Gazeley.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Judy (Bob) Knowlton, Dartmouth; Debbie (Jimmy) Murray, Bridgewater; her beloved grandchildren Wesley Knowlton, Dartmouth; Kristin (Matt) LeFrank, Victoria, BC; Alyson Murray (Akram), Halifax; Laura (Cody) Scott, Hammonds Plains, and great-grandchildren Mitchell Turner, Zander, and Oliver LeFrank. She is also survived by her brother Eric (Marilyn) Gazeley, and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Fraser Dalziel (1981), her parents, stepmother, Josie; brother Alfred; sister Marjorie (Donald) Young; nephew Barry Young, and close friend Leslie Smith.
Frances was incredibly determined, independent, caring, and naturally thoughtful. She treasured any occasion to spend time with family. She enjoyed square dancing, travel, camping, and connecting with friends. Frances was a lifelong member of the Anglican Church and ACW. She gave generously of her time to a wide range of causes. Many will remember ‘Mrs. Dalziel’ as the devoted secretary of Hebbville Jr Sr High, retiring a few years after Hebbville Academy opened.
Private family graveside service will be held when Public Health restrictions allow. Donations in Frances’ memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Arthritis Society. The family extends special thanks to the SSRH fourth floor doctors and nurses for their care and compassion.
