I WAS VERY SAD TO READ THAT MILDRED HAD PASSED AWAY. HOW I MET HER WAS AT HILLSIDE PINES NURSING HOME WHEN I WORKED THERE AS A PCW (NURSING) AND WAS ONE OF HER DEAR SWEET MOMS GRETA`S NURSE. WHEN MILDRED WOULD VISIT THERE WOULD BE A LOT OF LAUGHS & STORIES TOLD. MILDRED & SISTERS & BROTHERS, WIVES & HUSBANDS WERE SO GOOD TO THEIR MOM. THEY WERE ALL ATTENTIVE IN VISITING GRETA, WHO I CALLED HER MY (GEDA). WE HAD A SPECIAL BOND TOGETHER. EVEN TO THE LAST NIGHT, I WOULD GO IN HER ROOM, SHE WOULD BE LAYING WITH HER EYES CLOSED AS SHE COULDN`T SEE ANYONE. I WOULD WHISPER TO HER ARE YOU OK? GREDA WOULD REPLY, SHEILA THAT`S YOU I KNOW YOUR VOICE, OUR SPECIAL BOND WAS SHORTLY GONE IT BROKE MY HEART, I MISSED ALL THE AWESOME, KIND & FRIENDLY FAMILY OF HERS VISITING. IT WAS JUST AS I GOT BACK TO WORK AFTER MY MOM HAD PASSED AWAY. IT WAS A VERY EMOTIONAL TIME. I JUST LOST MY MOM AND NOW MY BEST FRIEND WHO I CARED SO MUCH FOR. MILDRED YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, AS WE SHARED MANY TIMES TOGETHER. I WILL KEEP YOU CLOSE TO MY HEART WITH ALL OUR GOOD MEMORIES. MY CONDOLENCES ARE TO ALL THE FAMILY . RIP SWEET MILDRED.

Kelly and family,
I was saddened to read of your mom’s passing but the moving tribute to a life well lived brought back many cherished memories.
I remember :
- roasted chicken dinners, homemade jam on freshly baked bread/rolls, and an endless pot of ghoulash simmering on a cast iron wood stove;
- her seated on a folding lawn chair husking corn, topping carrots & beets and peeling the never-ending pot of potatoes, while a ‘laddie boy’ lay at her feet;
- her unmitigated joy when an extension was added off the living room to accommodate larger family gatherings;
- the sound of her laughter.
Your mom embodied everything family and was the heart of her family.
My deepest condolences on your profound loss.
Love Cindy

We have many memories of Mildred. She was our neighbour ; we'd often see her out with Bobby when we went for a long walk and would stop and have a talk with her and Bobby or one of the children. Jackie remembers working on the farm, helping in the gardens or orchards and the incredible sense of humor that the entire family had with each other and others who happened to be there. My Dad ,as we were nearing the end of his life, would say , "Let's go for a drive and see if Bobby is out working on his woodpile." and sure enough there he and Mildred were and the three of them would have a long chat.Debbie , our family's very special friend, who my mother adored, would often share funny little tidbits about her life with her parents and family. Those memories we all have of Mildred, will continue in our minds and hearts and will be shared with others as time goes on of the lovely lady who shared her life with her family and friends.

To the family:
Millie ( as I knew her from work) was one of the sweetest and dearest people I knew earlier in my life. She always had a smile and a kind work. She never complain on the job or in life, but was a strong influence to everyone who knew her. We drifted apart as the years went by, but each time we met up she was the same Millie ! I know that she will be deeply missed by all of you.
May God bless and give you peace'
Very Sincerely Yours.Ollie Silver ( Olive )

My grandmother, Gam, was one of my favourite people in the entire world. I am so grateful for having had her in my life and for her unconditional love and support. She loved her family deeply and never stopped showing her affection for us, even after many years of living with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was one of those special people who saw and appreciated others for their true selves; she was not afraid to talk about things that mattered. Her emotional intelligence was immense. I had many conversations with her over FaceTime and telephone during the pandemic. Until recently, she always used to ask me if I had settled down with anyone yet, “Do you have a man yet?” I was never able to answer this question quite to her satisfaction. One such day on FaceTime, only last year, she gave me the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. She looked at me thoughtfully, almost as if she were looking into my soul, and after a moment’s reflection, she asked me a different question she had never asked me before. The information she requested was not something I had ever planned on sharing with her, as I did not think she would remember it. I responded in the affirmative, and she smiled at me and said, “And you’re happy?” I confirmed that I was, and she said, “That’s all that matters.”
Gam, I love you so much, and I will miss you forever.
Love,
Jennie
