I am very grateful to have met Mrs. Townsend, and seeing her smile when I knocked on the door. Some of my best memories growing up in Bridgewater involve being welcomed into your home. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

had the pleasure of knowing the Townsend family when I was a teenager growing up in Bridgewater. Cindy and I hung around with each other all the time. More often than not, we ended up at her house anytime of the day or night. Mrs. Townsend was like a 2nd Mom to me. She was firm, but fair to me always. As George said at her service about playing games...that's exactly where I learned most of the games I know how to play. Lol! Such a loving family! ❤️ And "Ma" was a great cook for sure. Will miss her quick wit! RIP Muriel Townsend!

Paul put it very well, but I will add my 2 cents. Mrs. Townsend (as we knew her most of our lives) was always the first person to greet me when I came home, even from Halifax but especially when I arrived home from Ontario or Calgary when I was at university. A great neighbour! I still miss the Christmas Eve seafood chowder, which she and Mr Townsend always kept hot for us late into the evening, even knowing they'd be up at 5am to host the rest of own family opening presents.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a mother is difficult especially a mother, grandmother and role model like she was. Cherish the memories you made along the way, and there were many. May it help to comfort you to know that we are thinking of you at this time. She will always be with you and watching over you, crying and laughing with you, in her new role as your guiding angel.

We were so blessed to have the Townsends for neighbours on Murray Drive - for me, starting in 1974 when we moved there, when I was 3, right up until I finally packed up all of my stuff and moved permanently to Halifax, in 1996. Too many memories to recount, but the ones that spring to mind include: being educated about the greatness of Elvis; trying to keep up with George (Jr) on his cool bikes; getting full use of their lawn to play; their wonderful cats, Spooky and Mitch; babysitting services from all the girls (who always let Craig and I stay up past our bedtimes); Christmas Eve visits and Seafood chowder; D+D and listening to records in the basement; summer visits to the Townsend estate in Allendale ("A second house? They must be rich!"); the care package they sent me when I was in England one Christmas. Best of all, the hospitality, kindness, and interest Mrs. Townsend (I'd never call her Muriel) always showed us. What a wonderful lady.

My Nanny, my namesake. I love you and miss you.
I will always remember the many big family meals that you have hosted, cozy Christmases on Murray Drive, the delicious stew that made me eat all my veggies as a kid, your marvelous mustard pickles, the love you had for your grand and great-grandchildren, when we battled for the deck in Canasta, helping me learn the love of sewing, and way too many other things to list here.
Your passing has left a huge hole in our hearts, which proves how much love you gave us and the huge impact you have made in our lives. We will never forget you. We love you Nanny. I look forward seeing you again someday.

To Our Second Family. No one could make you feel instantly like Family as easily as Ma. A kinder more caring lady would be hard to find. We will all miss her terribly. Hopefully with all the beautiful memories and the knowledge that she affected so many people will bring you some comfort.
Love from Ronnie and Cathy

I am so sorry at Aunt Muriel’s passing. She was always so loving and kind to everyone. Such a sweet, wonderful person. She was always fun to be with. We were all so lucky to have had her as part of our lives for so long. My daughter said she always reminded her of Popper (Albert). She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Lorraine

Uncle George, Heather, Cindy, Yvonne, Geaorge and families.
Mom and I were talking about Aunt Muriel the past few days. Mom shared the memories of standing for her at her wedding. She and Alice both wore grey suits. Mom had to borrow her suit because she did not have one. She talked about how much Muriel would want to come and play with her and her siblings because she had no one to play with at home. When we moved to Dartmouth I remember that visits to your home on Herring Cove Road were always exciting because we got to see everyone. When I ran into her and Uncle George in Bridgewater while they were out and about it was always a wonderful feeling. She was a a kind soul and I know you all will miss her greatly. She was the last of Mom's Drover cousins to pass away. Please accept our love and condolences.
