I knew Vic through the BFD, both in his earlier active years and later as an old fart. I'd love to know how many snappy comments and insults we threw at each other over the years, like many around the hall it was our way of having a conversation. It was in his years as an old fart that I got to know him best as he seemed to spend as much time at the hall as he could. He'd be helping with big calls, most often tracking and finding resources on big calls, and even got off his old ass to help with hose on occasion which resulted in lots of commentary back-and-forth. Most of all, Vic showed up for numerous fundraising efforts with a dedication which was impressive. He loved to help, loved the time around the crew and community, and the occasional (?) drink. He was bartender at our wedding and again at our 10 year anniversary - I may have spent more time with him at the latter than my wife! He was at bed races, candlelight vigils, parades and canvassing. He seemed to always be there. I know family and friends will miss his amazing ability to jump from crusty to comedy in the same breath, I know I sure will. My condolences to you all.
