Very sorry, Marcia to hear about Gerald. Both he and mom made it to 82. Sounds as if they were quite alike too, in pleasantries and helpfulness. A big loss for your family and volunteer organizations. I’m sure you’ll be surrounded by caring family and friends in the weeks and months ahead. May you gain strength from both them and Our God above.
In Christ, Brad and Marilyn ( Veinotte ) Wagner

So sorry for your loss and thinking of you all. I can't recall growing up in Midville Branch without fondly remembering Gerald. He was a "giant" to me back then - a kind, gentle, and always smiling one!
I think one of the memories I will share is of one day playing hide and seek in your basement when you lived beside us (I don't know how old I was but I am going to say quite little). Gerald was outside doing something in the yard. I found the perfect hiding spot near the basement doorway in a darker area - no one was going to find me. Then, I stepped on something that looked like a rope, only thing it moved. I'm sure there was tons of little girl high pitched screaming (or was that Karen, or maybe "little Michael"?!). Anyways, in all the chaos, Gerald came running into the basement with a shovel in hand. He somehow found that snake and with one thrust of the shovel towards the floor he split that thing in half! Then quickly picked up the two halves and took them away.
Gerald - always there when you needed him, quick to lend a hand, had a constant smile on his face, and was also a highly effective and mighty snake killer!

Marcia and family:
My deepest condolences in your loss. No words can ease the pain you are feeling right now but may it help to know that you are in the thoughts of many now. He was a real friendly and courteous fellow and I remember the first time I met him. He was here helping to put together my late husband's ramps and he had me in stitches with his sense of humor. Remember all the wonderful times you have had with him over the years and he will always be with you. He will remain in your memories and hearts forever.
