Janice, Jim, Wendy, Joanne & families
I had the pleasure of working with Barry for over a 10 years. In that time, there was never a dull moment. He always greeted me with a smile, and his wonderful laugh could be heard many a times way up in the office when he was down stairs. He shared many stories, some of which Jim would say, "here we go again", as he had heard them so many times. Now Jim will be sharing those stories as the memories of Barry lives on in them. Darren and I never forgot, and talk often of the fact that Barry gave us the start we needed as a young couple to begin our lives together. We owe so much to him. He will live on and always be remembered as one of the good ones.

I can not imagine a life without Barry in it.
I am so sorry Jan and Jimmy.
He was like a bright star that weaved through my memories of time.
Clamming, boating, visits to the Bahamas (with the Lunenburg pudding), my visits back to Nova Scotia sharing lobsters at the table full of deep belly laughs with a soul that when you are with you just know it’s home.
The whole Kenedy clan adored him so.
I imagine he’s holding court in heaven with all his buddies.

My heartfelt condolences to Janice, Jim and all the family. The Rofihe's were on one corner and my family was on the opposite corner of the block growing up in Bridgewater. Because I have older brothers Barry's age, there was always a close connection and I can't remember a time when I didn't know the Rofihe's, and especially Barry. As a child, I would see his father walking to Bolivars where he stored his car - and he liked power and always had a nice car. To me, Mary was like a movie star with her jewelry and great clothes. As a teenager, Barry was the one to turn to for fashion advice. When I married my wife Wendy 48 years ago, Barry gave us the use of his sailboat for a couple days as a wedding present. Very generous and trusting. And none of the Rofihe's were more involved in the community than Barry. Such a loyal and generous friend to so many. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Barry was a kind and helpful man. If you needed info, Barry could, and did, help! He carried on the tradition of his parents, Herman and Mary, at the family clothing store. I'm certain that 100's of BHS students purchased their graduation suits and their wedding suits from Barry and later, Jim. I got mine from Hermie, as he grabbed the back of the jacket and told me it fit just fine. And when I picked it up, it did fit fine, thanks to the magic of Pennell Richardson. Barry and his family were the heart of Bridgewater's King St merchants!.

From being a kid visiting King Street until I took my own kids along there, Barry was the King of King Street. It was his outfit that locked me in - dress pants, shirt, suit jacket (sometimes), traffic vest, wand and I think there was a fire helmet at times - standing in the middle of Dominion and King blocking traffic so BFD could get quickly through to their next call. "I knew it was bad when you didn't wave," he said to me after I popped in after a rough call the day prior. He loved to hear updates on calls, but he loved more to see a familiar face and have a chat. I will miss seeing him again, and wherever the conversation would wander. Except for that one visit on Christmas Eve when he nearly pickled me the drink was so strong, but at least he got a good laugh from it. My condolences to the entire Rofihe family, he will be missed.

He took us all the way to two provincial championships in the 1960’s. Barry had exceptional management skills and was always kind and compassionate. I saw Barry when the Bridgewater Hawks were inducted into the Wall of Fame last year and we shared a few great memories and laughs. The induction was a very proud moment for him and his a team.

Our sincere condolences to the entire Rofihe family. So sad to hear the news of Barry's passing. He was a great guy in the community and a friend to our family over many years. Like everyone else in Bridgewater we shopped for Dad and "the boyfriends" at Rofihe's store. Barry was always friendly and kind to us teens and made it possible for us to get those special sweaters and Christmas gifts. Over the years we would stop in to see him when we visited NS and he remained the same - always asked about the family, always a smile, and ready to chat and share a humorous story. We were very fortunate to catch Barry at the LaHave River yacht club, in 2021, where he was enjoying the Friday night music. Was great to see his familiar smile and have a visit. We know he will be missed by many.

Condolences to the family on the loss of your patriarch....not only was he the family patriarch, he was that of the community that he loved. He dedicated time and effort on every level. It was always a pleasure when walking down main street to stop and have a chat with Barry. He kept his eye out on everything, and had a wisdom and knowledge of the workings of the town, and of human nature. I loved his smile. It reached his eyes and was genuine. I knew him from the time I was 18 and started working in Bridgewater. He could always be relied upon for advice. He made it a point to know everyone he could, and their background. It gave him a great base of knowledge. We would often tell stories (his always better than mine), and on many occasions he helped me with attiring the males in my family. He took pride in all he did. He enjoyed his retirement, with his travels and activities. Bridgewater has lost one of the great men of our time.

It is with great sadness hearing of Barry's passing. I was talking with Barry when I was home as I have always done each summer. I have known the Rofihe Family all my life. Many chicken and pizza runs down the LaHave. I remember visiting Carl and looking out the window I said; "there's a boat drifting down the river" and without missing a spoonful of cereal Carl asked "does it have 2 outboards on it? If so, it's just Rofihe reading his paper; drifting - saving gas".
He was a fixture in Bridgewater. I will cherish the memories of Barry.

Rof was the best fisherman I have ever known.
We could not possibly have had more fun than the two of us fishing the Gulf Shores of Florida.
He was also the best story teller I've known because he laughed at the same time which made us laugh more. This included the many " repeats".
Ever the Schooner and Yachtsman with one of his proudest and often told tales were of beating Capt Doug Mosher.
Best fishing story was the day we caught 40 Lady Fish in 30 minutes. So many that they were jumping and flopping all over the boat and even getting up our short pants legs.
Thank you Rofihe Family for sharing Rof with Nora and me.
He will be remembered

Shocked and saddened upon learning of Barry's passing. We always found Barry to be a gentle humble individual quick to share a life story. Always found time to talk. A real tribute to the community he thrived in. Often out and about no matter how difficult medical issues challenged him. We loved visiting his clothing business. Always very comfortable in his presence. At last Christmas church service we shared a few moments with Barry. Still remember him saying,..."I don't get out much,...but I'm here now". Will miss seeing him pass by on the Lahave. His love of boating and the safety of others very evident. We were blessed over the years to have been a very small part of his life. Miss him already. Our deepest condolences to his family and the many friends he left behind. Our hope is that after navigating the sometimes rough waters of life he has finally found that calm harbour to drop anchor and relax pain free.

We who remain will remember Barry as a good friend, a fabulous raconteur and his generous and devoted contribution to his community and province in so many ways. How do you begin to express condolences to the family of a man you have know for almost all of your life? I first remember Barry from when my Mom took me to Rofihe's for a new Sunday suit when I was about seven or eight years old - about sixty years ago. Then I knew him as a neighbour when he built his home on Acadia Street, where I was his paperboy. In my teens, he hired me to hand-paint something like thirty dozen cartoon T-shirts (thanks for all the help, Odette!) which I am now sure that he didn't need, but did so to allow me to make some money with my art. When I became a naval architect, Barry often discussed the finer points of sailboats and cheered me on in my endeavours. Like many, when I got married, I went to Barry to have myself and my guys look good in our tuxes. At every point along this timeline, Barry was there - chatting, joshing, encouraging, and always making me feel that I was just a bit special. How do you express mere condolences about a man that was a part of your life for as long as you can remember? I will miss you, Barry, you were a good friend and neighbour. I hope that the great outpouring of sympathy from all of Barry's many friends will comfort his family in this time of loss. Fair winds and calm seas on this next voyage, my friend.
